The framework works from the individual outward. Self sits at the very centre, the innermost ring. Before you can collaborate as part of a Team, work across Culture, step into Leadership, or uphold Risk & Compliance, you need command of your own attention, energy and emotions. Get this layer right and everything that follows becomes possible. Master it, and you build from solid ground.

This training layer is designed to develop capabilities in:

What is the Self layer of the LIA Development Framework?

Self is the first of five layers in the LIA Development Framework. It focuses on how you manage yourself, your mindset, emotions, focus and resilience and forms the foundation that the other four layers (Team, Culture, Leadership, and Risk & Compliance) build on.

Why does the framework start with Self?

Because every other capability depends on it. Before you can collaborate with a team, lead others or shape culture, you need self-awareness, emotional regulation and personal effectiveness. The framework is deliberately designed to work from the individual outward.

What courses are in the Self layer?

Featured Self courses are Emotional Intelligence at Work; Stress Awareness & Regulation, Focus & Productivity Management; Critical Thinking; Building Self-Confidence; and Time Management.

What skills does the Self layer develop?

Emotional intelligence, resilience, wellbeing, time management, personal effectiveness, critical thinking and a growth mindset.

Who is the Self layer for?

Anyone building their professional foundation, from early-career professionals to senior leaders who want to sharpen self-awareness, focus and resilience before developing others.

What comes after the Self layer?

The next layer is Team, which focuses on how you work with others through communication, collaboration and resolving conflict.
