Leadership draws on every layer beneath it. To lead well you need command of yourself (Self), the ability to work through others (Team) and fluency across difference (Culture). Layer four is where those combine into influence, judgement and responsibility for other people’s growth and performance with only Risk & Compliance, the protective outer ring, beyond it.

What is the Leadership layer of the LIA Development Framework?

Leadership is the fourth of five layers in the LIA Development Framework. It focuses on how you lead others, presence, influence, decision-making, developing people and driving performance and builds on the Self, Team and Culture layers beneath it.

Why does Leadership come after Culture?

Because leading well draws on everything before it: self-management, working through others, and fluency across difference. Only once those are in place can you lead diverse teams and organisations with credibility.
