Course Description:
The course introduces the concept of disability awareness and belonging for all employees at the workplace. Using Cherelle and her team’s story as an example, we will analyze unconscious bias and its influence and how accessibility should be taken into consideration when organizing social functions.
The course will specifically cover the following areas of concern:
⦿ Belonging and its Value: Learn the benefits that belong to both the individual and group as they extend places of belonging and how this in turn benefits the organization as a whole.
⦿ Disability Awareness: Learn more and with depth of the issues they come across in workplaces, for example, discrimination, inaccessibility, and isolation.
⦿ Making Events Everyone Can Attend: Understand the measures of normal events that get to restrict some members of the team and learn how to promote inclusion.
⦿ Becoming an Ally: Seek to understand how you can act as an ally towards your coworkers living with disabilities through encouragement and understanding.
